In this edition of the ECOP Wednesdays event series, hosted by the EMB Young Ambassadors and the EMB Secretariat for the EMB ECOP network, EMB Ambassador Laura Citiminna will speak about "Promoting sustainability in the aquaculture sector: production of alternative and ecofriendly feeds and farming of low-trophic species".

Laura Ciriminna is a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Earth and Marine Sciences at the University of Palermo. Her research focuses on sustainable aquaculture practices, particularly the cultivation of low-trophic-level marine species as a means to promote environmentally responsible seafood production. During her PhD she gained experience in the formulation of alternative, eco-friendly aquafeeds and in the cultivation and biology of echinoderms, exploring their potential for sustainable aquaculture systems. She is also involved in research on potential effects of offshore wind farms on marine fauna and on the spread of invasive non-native species in the Mediterranean Sea.
Her presentation will present an overview of her research work and findings.
