EMB Presents a European Perspective on Oceans and Human Health at the Gordon Research Conference, Maine, USA

2014 06 04 GRC USA 2014 smToday, EMB’s Executive Scientific Secretary Dr. Niall McDonough is presenting at the Gordon Research Conference in Oceans and Human Health in Maine, USA (1-6 June). The theme of the 2014 GRC is ‘Anthropogenic impacts on coastal communities and ecosystems’. The conference aims to encourage international interdisciplinary participation in Oceans and Human Health. Recognizing the strategic importance of this topic for Europe, Dr. McDonough is giving a talk on Embedding Oceans and Human Health in Science and Maritime Policy: A European Perspective in a session of the conference titled, ‘Moving Forward: Strategies for Improving OHH’. The EMB has recently published a position paper entitled, Linking Oceans & Human Health: A Strategic Research Priority for Europe (PDF), an output of the European Marine Board working group on Oceans and Human Health.  The conference delegates unanimously supported a proposal to hold the next GRC OHH conference at a location in Europe.
