The EU-funded EcoScope project (Ecocentric management for sustainable fisheries and healthy ecosystems) aims to promote effective ecosystem-based fisheries management (EBFM). This last General Assembly (GA), which is being held in Athens from 24-26 June 2025, brings together all project partners for the last time to share the results of the project and showcase the final products of EcoScope. These include:
- Ecosystem models for eight European case study areas to test the consequences of management and policy scenarios;
- The EcoScope platform to visualise and map a large quantity of data, including oceanographic, biological and fisheries data;
- The EcoScope Toolbox with three sustainability scoring indices that are based on interdisciplinary and EBFM relevant indicators;
- A new fisheries edition for the Eastern Mediterranean of the Maritime Spatial Planning Challenge Simulation game;
- The EcoScope Academy with nine free online courses on ecocentric fisheries management; and
- The EcoScope App, a mobile application for enhancing the engagement of the public in fisheries management through citizen science.
Possible sequels of the EcoScope project are also being discussed during this last GA.
