4th EMB Forum, Arctic 2050 (12 March 2014, Brussels)

20140312 MarineBoard w-039The 4th European Marine Board Forum is taking place in Brussels today where scientists, policymakers and industry representatives from 64 organizations and networks have gathered to discuss how to best manage the consequences of a changing Arctic Ocean. Moderated by David Shukman, BBC Science Editor, forum programme includes sessions on 'Living with a Changing Arctic Ocean', 'Utilizing and Managing Arctic Ocean Resources' and 'Arctic Observation'. The 4th EMB forum promotes the need for an ecosystem-based management approach in the Arctic Ocean, in order to adapt to and manage rapid environmental change and commercial exploitation. The forum will stimulate dialogue across sectors to aid common understanding, collaborative actions and sustainability targets. The European Marine Board has convened this flagship event in collaboration with the European Polar Board, and it is recognized as an official ICARP III event. Later today the forum will culmunate with an open panel discussion on the roles of industry, science and policy in achieving sustainable management of the Arctic Ocean.
